The roan antelope is a savannah antelope found in western, central and southern Africa. They form harem groups of five to 15 animals with a dominant male. They are primarily grazers, preferring to crop the top portions of grasses, but will occasionally feed on woody and herbaceous plants. They prefer stands of medium to tall grass stands in open savannahs.
